In 1994, Joe Carter made his first surf video—shot on Hi-8 tape, edited with two VCRs and a tape deck—and he’s been documenting life through the lens ever since.

A self-taught documentary photographer and filmmaker, Joe’s work is a direct reflection of the things he knows and lives. His journalistic, fly-on-the-wall approach allows him to capture real candid moments as they unfold.

A true one-man band, Joe is nimble and adaptable, working on everything from fashion shoots for major brands to jumping onto lobster boats and capturing unscripted documentary work at sea.  His clients include Discovery Channel, Weather Channel, Red Bull, Volvo, VICE Magazine, Wrangler Jeans, Volcom, Duracell, JBL, Boston Beer, Kawasaki, and Behr.
